Stating The Obvious, Alan Greenspan Claims Iraq War Was About The Oil.

Well, I guess it’s good for those who somehow didn’t already know the reason we went over there, but still…thanks for making it “public”, Al!

From The Times:

In his long-awaited memoir, to be published tomorrow, Greenspan, a Republican whose 18-year tenure as head of the US Federal Reserve was widely admired, will also deliver a stinging critique of President George W Bush’s economic policies.

However, it is his view on the motive for the 2003 Iraq invasion that is likely to provoke the most controversy. “I am saddened that it is politically inconvenient to acknowledge what everyone knows: the Iraq war is largely about oil,” he says.

Just had to share…

Interesting, how much do you want to bet that it won’t be mentioned in the media?

  2. david says:

I just saw them try to mention it on Meet The Press, but it was quickly shunned as not being true…and then they went to commercial.

why is this such big news that someone in the administration is admitting it? Every war that the US has ever been in has had a large economic/resource reason driving it. If the middle east didn’t have tons of oil it would be treated or rather ignored just like Africa is.

Everyone knows it but it makes people uncomfortable to talk about it like he said. The only people that this still surprises is incredibly naive people or 19 year old college kids who just took a 100 or 200 level class and are newly “awakened” to the realities of the world. Maybe I’m just a little peeved after talking to a couple college kids over the last few months who act like they thought up the oil/war connection and think they are geniuses and intellectually superior to everyone else

  4. david says:

Of course it has, but it’s about time someone other than us “crazy lefties” says it, that’s all.

And honestly, I am just glad the college kids even know there is a war going on, because they sure don’t act like it at all.
