Tierra Verde Handmade Soap – 2 Bars Up For Grabs.
This giveaway has ended.
About a month ago, I was sent a small package from Tierra Verde Soaps in Lubbock, Texas. Inside was a bar of handmade natural soap, which I have been using ever since I opened the package. This soap, which is still in my shower, was labeled Barley and Hops (Pale Ale & Honey) and contained barley flakes, honey, and Santa Fe pale ale. Sweet – a soap made from one of my favorite microbrews! It smells great and works really well, both of which are important aspects of a soap in my book. The basic formula for all their soaps is olive oil, organic, sustainably-farmed palm oil, lye, filtered water, coconut oil and additives such as goat’s milk, butters, clay, orange peel, oatmeal, barley, vegetable juice, fruit juice, various milks, and even beer. Take a look at how nice their stuff looks:
The colors of the soaps are the result of the essential oils themselves, clays, oxides, charcoal, herbs, vegetable or fruit purees etc., and only quality essential oils are used – no synthetic scents. The packing is minimal and/or recycled. And the best part? The soaps are handmade by a mom who considers her soaps her “functional art”, so you are supporting a small artisan business by purchasing from her. I am all for the small independent business owner over faceless corporations, so I love what Michele stands for. If you are interested in seeing what other soaps she makes, head over to Tierra Verde Soaps and check out her beautiful work. There is also free shipping for readers from Wednesday February 17 – Saturday February 20 in case you feel like picking up a bar or two. In the meantime, however, she has given me 2 bars of her soap to give away to some lucky readers of The Good Human!
Here’s how to enter to win one of the 2 bars:
- The giveaway will be open until February 18, 2010 at 7am MST
- To enter, please visit Tierra Verde Soaps and check out all the different soaps. Then come back to this post and leave a comment (with a valid email address, so we can contact you) as to which one you would like to win if you could make any choice. I cannot promise you will win that exact one, but I will try to match you up if you win.
- Only one entry per person. Period. Please don’t try to use different email addresses, etc, as the IP numbers will be checked.
- Entries must be from residents from the U.S.
- Soaps will be mailed via USPS
- 2 Winners will be chosen at random from all eligible entries received
Good luck, and thanks to Michele at Tierra Verde Soaps for the giveaway!

Very nice store; thank you for sharing. I would love to try the Orange U Happy.
The Tuscany Kitchen Soap would be wonderful for getting rid of garlic/onion hands! They all look so beautiful.
Awesome. The Peace, Love, and Patchouli sounds great!
Those soaps look wonderful! I would love to try the Tuscany kitchen soap!
Love the idea of the natural soaps, I would pick Peace, Love and Patchouli or Orange U Happy.
OMG! These bars of soap look like homemade fudge! Are you sure this is really soap and not fudge? The Peace, Love & Patchouli and the Orange U Happy sound wonderful.
Thank you!
“Chill” is so pretty! Of course, it’s hard to pick–they all look wonderful!
I would love the Barley and Hops for my husband and the fluer de lis for myself!
I would have to go with the No Nonscents bar. I’m always afraid that I’ll pick the wrong scent. These are probably great as stocking stuffers and small gifts. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I’ll definitely be going back!

They look good enough to eat! Orange U Happy is such a wonderful color and must smell great too. I’m also curious about the one that is coming soon. What are the elements of that one?
Tuscany Kitchen Soap – I like that one, even though it has the word kitchen in it.
These are awesome soaps with interesting ingredients. The Barley and Hops
(Pale Ale & Honey) is my favorite!
I love them! My favorite is Chill.
Gorgeous soaps! I think I would choose Chill
.
The Barley and Hops bar sounds lovely! I might take advantage of that free shipping offer.
I’d like the Pale Ale and Honey one. Sounds interesting, and I love the color!
Beautiful. I’m hoping to learn soap making soon. I love the look (and mint smell) of Chill!

I’m an unscented kind of gal, so I’d love to win the “No-Nonscents” soap.
I’d go with the Barley Hops, mostly because I could convince my boyfriend to use anything “natural” if it was made with beer!
They do look like food, so Orange U Happy would be my pick if I were one of the lucky winners. Thanks, Michele, and thanks to you, Good Human!
WOW! All of there selections are so beautiful! I love a good bar of soap! If I could choose any one from there shop, I would try, Fleur de lis!!! It is a beautiful name, a lovely symbol, beautiful colors and I’m sure it smells wonderful!
Botánico, definitely. I love anything & everything lavender! Looks so good I want to eat it (but I won’t).
Thank you for letting us know about this shop! The long bars look like fudge! First, I thought Orange U Happy was my favorite, then after reading the blog, I’d also like to try Chill or Herbacious.
All these soaps look wonderful, but if I am chosen, I would prefer to have “Orange U Happy”. Citrus is my favorite! Thanks for the soapy giveaway.
I’ve just bookmarked that site — the photographs are luscious. I’d have to go with Fleur de Lis if I won, because mmm, cloves, but both of the barley soaps are very tempting, too.
If the kids at my old high school found out that this soap has ale in it, they’d probably eat it. Those people had only one thing on their minds: getting drunk.
“Orange you happy?” Why yes, I would be very happy to receive this citrusy soap, especially since orange is a favorite color! (Looks like sherbet, too — another fave.)
Absolutely lovely soaps! I’d choose the No Non-scents if I had a choice but they all look wonderful.
I think the Orange U Happy Soap sounds like it smells delicious.
They are all works of art! I think I would like the no non-scents to try with the kids but my daughter likes chill
Awesome soaps, would love to try the orange u happy. thanks!
i would love to try it ( Fleur de lis) as i am a huge fan of soap bars as well as my little one
