Are you a true treehugger looking to get to your favorite hiking trail without having to get into your car? Do you live in or around San Francisco? Do you have an iPhone? Then this is the app for you.
The Transit and Trails App from the Bay Area Open Space Council can help you find parks and trails near you that are accessible by public transportation. If you are a biker, it gives directions you can use to bike to your favorite spot. Sure, it gives directions to use in your car, but if you are driving then you don’t need this special app!
Once you are done with your hike, you can share advice and pictures with other Transit and Trails users to make the service better. The whole thing is a project of the Open Space Council, a nonprofit focused on providing a vision and central hub for land conservation in the San Francisco Bay Area.
So if you are interested in checking out the Transit and Trails app for yourself, here’s the link to the free app in the iTunes app store. While I wish there was an app like this for every city, be sure to report back if you live in San Francisco!
