Review and Special Offer: 100% Natural Talalay Latex Pillows

November 13, 2012 0 Comments

As you probably know by now, from time to time I am offered goods to review for my readers. Most of the time the products I am offered are crap; I don’t even bother accepting a sample to check out. But every once in a while I am offered the chance to take a look at something worthwhile and that I think you guys may be interested in, and that’s the case today.

A few weeks ago Plush Beds sent me 100% natural talalay latex pillows to try out, and in agreeing to do so I secured a special offer just for readers of The Good Human. We’ll talk about the offer later, but first the pillows…

They’re comfortable, for sure. They are a little “spongier” than the pillows I am used to sleeping on, but they are definitely comfortable and support my neck and back just fine. That is sometimes hard to find in a pillow, but it’s important: we spend nearly a third of our lives sleeping. Using natural latex in pillows is good for several reasons:

  • Dust mite resistance
  • Stops the growth of mold and mildew spores
  • Allergen-free
  • No chemical retardants, formaldehydes, synthetics, or harsh chemicals

The most commonly-purchased pillows are usually made from cotton, one of the most pesticide-intensive crops to grow, or polyester, a synthetic fabric. Spending so much of your life sleeping on franken-fabric pillows or ones coated with pesticides isn’t exactly healthy, and that’s why many people choose to spend money on down-filled or natural latex pillows like these ones reviewed here. The latex used in these pillows is derived from sustainably-harvested and renewable botanical latex, water, and air, and are biodegradable at the end of their useful life. It was nice to know I was laying my head on something that wasn’t toxic and full of chemicals. After all, why bother with organic cotton sheets if I am going to just use them to cover a pesticide-laden pillow?

If you are concerned about what is in the pillow you sleep on every night, latex pillows like these should be something you consider. For more info on the latex they use and how they make the pillows, check out the Plush Beds site. They also make latex mattresses, which I have bookmarked for the future when I have the cash to trade my bed in for a healthier one!

Now for that special offer. These pillows normally retail for $79, $89, or $99 each (Standard, Queen, and King Sizes), but if you call 1-888-449-5738 and mention my review here you get one free if you buy one. That’s a pretty healthy discount off full price if you need two new pillows. This buy one get one free promotion is limited to one offer per household and is subject to expiration.

Big thanks to Plush Beds for letting me try these pillows out!
