Just in case you missed them, here are some green news stories for you to catch up on…

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I figured now would be a good time for the Biofriendly Blog to cover some reasons to be thankful. I know most of us are thankful for the many people, opportunities and things we have in our lives, but I wanted to share these 50 reasons I have to be thankful. Thanks Tara, sometimes it’s easy to forget.

Mobile Solar Generators – One Man’s Odyssey to Bring Power Back to New York. Shortly after Superstorm Sandy smashed in to the East Coast, Chris Mejia of Consolidated Solar decided to do something about it.

Fed up with low wages, erratic hours, lack of health benefits, and most importantly disrespect in the workplace, while the multi-billionaire Walton Family enjoys tax breaks and empty praise for “job creation,” Walmart employees around the country are planning a series of worker-led actions to take place on Black Friday. Support them by doing your holiday shopping elsewhere. Please do not shop at Walmart.

BP will pay $4.5 billion in penalties and plead guilty to criminal misconduct in the Deepwater Horizon disaster, which caused the worst U.S. offshore oil spill ever. That’s a good start, but it’s certainly not enough.

Patriot Coal Corp. agreed Thursday to become the first U.S. coal operator to phase out and eventually stop all large-scale mountaintop removal mining in central Appalachia under an agreement reached with three environmental groups that sued over pollution from several West Virginia operations. Score one for the environment. This is really good news.
