I know I wrote about this before HERE, but here is a little more info about the junk mail problem in this country, and one company that wants to do something about it. Over at The Action Blog, Jason writes:

“This alert is a little different than the ones I normally run but I really like this concept and wanted to let you all know about it. This year, the average person will receive 41 POUNDS of junk mail. Collectively, more than 4 million tons (62,000,000,000 (billion) pieces) of junk mail are produced yearly. This leads to forest destruction, water wastage, and millions of tons of global warming gasses being produced. But there is something you can do right now to help put an end to this”

  1. In my opinion, one of the most important steps that you can take to reduce you junk mail and protect your privacy is to opt out of prescreened offers of credit and insurance. It is your right under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, it is free, and takes less than five minutes . I have posted all the details at Quarterlife Finance. Thank you for helping fight the junk-mail demons!
