This week’s Do One Thing is about water – the water you let run while you are brushing your teeth. Way too many people leave the water running out of the tap as they brush their teeth! In fact, if everyone in the United States shut off the water while they brushed, we could save around 150 billion gallons of water per year. That’s no small amount of water that could be conserved by such a simple flick of the wrist. So turn off that water!

  1. I remember being in elementary school when I first heard this tip. I remember being very confused, because I never left the water running while brushing my teeth, so I didn’t think people did that! The best thing to do is to teach your kids to turn the water on and off when they need it, like I was taught. That way, the habit is there for life!

  2. It’s sad,.. I teach my daughter to do this, but when I brush, for some reason still catch myself not turning the water off from time to time.

  3. I’m tempted not to because I have to get the perfect temp for my mouth, but I know better, so I always turn off the water when brushing.
One thing I need to improve on is showers. Mine are way too long and I should probably turn off the water in there in between scrubbing and rinsing.
