This contest is now closed Due to the fact that several people were trying to rig the contest in their favor, we had to re-start the giveaway with new rules and a new way to enter, which can be found at the bottom of this post. Below is the list of prizes that readers of The Good Human have a chance of winning, and thanks so much to the companies for donating them to give away to you guys. All entries will be assigned a number and a random number generator will choose the winners. Simple, right? OK enough of this jibber-jabber, here are the giveaway items:

A messenger bag from Terracycle. You will win either the bag made from 100% used drink pouches collected by the drink pouch brigade or the bag made from Oreo waste wrappers collected by the cookie wrapper brigade. Bag choice will be made by Terracycle depending on what is available at time of shipping.

A $30 gift certificate from Affordable Mineral Makeup. Affordable, all-natural makeup with no harmful talc, cornstarch, chemicals, parabens, petroleum, oils or dyes, preservatives, fragrances, lead (like in others lipsticks), and no animal testing.

A copy of the book Big Green Purse by Diane MacEachern. This book urges women to use their consumer clout to protect the environment and themselves. If women change the way they spend their money, they can help solve the environmental crisis – and protect themselves and their families, too. Why women? Because women spend $.85 of every dollar in the marketplace.

Organic, all-natural Shampoo, Conditioner and Body Gel from Yes To Carrots. All Yes To products combine the fresh, unadulterated goodness of organic fruits and vegetables with the purifying and moisturizing properties of 26 minerals harvested from the ancient world’s most renowned spa- the Dead Sea.

1 set of 3 RuMe Bags reusable grocery bags, 2 ECOBAGS reusable produce bags, and 1 Ocean Blue Klean Kanteen bottle from Delight.com.

A table runner made from woven recycled paper and a 20% off coupon for other products on the Way Basics website. Way Basics is a founding member of the Sustainable Furniture Council, and they’ve pledged to donate 5% of sales to Help1Up, which provides household furnishings to families in desperate need — victims of natural disasters who’ve lost everything they owned, women and children escaping from domestic violence, working families below the poverty line, and others requiring a hand up.

A pair of organic cotton urban hiker socks from Maggie’s Organics. Made with Certified Organic Wool and great for working out, cycling or just walking around town!

A messenger bag made of recycled plastic bottles from Act2 – GreenSmart. (Check out my review of this bag.) This messenger is padded for your laptop, has easy access pockets under the flap, a divided interior, a zip pocket in the back and magnetic flap closures. Exterior & Interior Fabric is 100% rPET polyester.

The e-book version of the book “EcoKids: Raising Children Who Care for the Earth” from EcoBrain. To forge a sustainable future, we need citizens who care for the Earth. We need citizens who understand that planet care is the ultimate form of self-care. But we also need generations who live according to their values and convictions and who can effect positive change in their lives and the lives of others. Because public schools and the popular media cannot be counted on to produce an Earth-friendly citizenry, the task falls to parents. Yet even aware parents often lack the understanding and resources to take on such a task. EcoKids addresses this gap!

A bag made of sustainable Bamboo from Envirosax. Bamboo is 100% biodegradable as it is naturally grown, without assistance from man, thriving naturally without using any pesticides or fertilizers. 100% sustainable, bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants in the world. These bamboo bags are 45% viscose from bamboo, 55% linen. We have one of these bags and love it!

One of two Baggu bags from Go Green With Tara Burner. These bags are made from super strong, rip-stop nylon, hold up to about 25 lbs, and are super-light and compactable. They fold into a flat 5 by 5 inch pouch that easily slips in a purse or pocket. One Baggu holds the contents of 2 to 3 plastic grocery bags!

Thanks to all the companies that so kindly donated products to give away!

This contest is now closed. Winners will be notified on Thursday Oct 16th, 2008.

  1. Darn! I’m in Canada, so not eligible 🙁

Just wanted to drop a comment saying that I recently bought an Act2 messenger bag for my laptop, and I LOVE it!

People: If you don’t win it, go out and buy one anyways. They’re worth it!

  2. dinsky, I wish Canada could be included. But because the companies are shipping and not me, that’s the rules. But I agree – I love my act2 bag!
