If you never saw it or just want to see it again, now is your chance to win a copy of DisneyNature’s “Earth” film. (You really should see it, even if you don’t win a copy.) Because of its upcoming release on September 1st on Blu-ray and DVD, they have agreed to give away 3 copies of the film to lucky readers of The Good Human! Set against some of the world’s most spectacular vistas, this film uses the classic Disney storytelling tradition to celebrate the determination of its animal stars in a heroic journey that covers the Earth from pole to pole. The film is made by award-winning filmmakers Alastair Fothergill (“The Blue Planet”) and Mark Linfield (“Planet Earth”) and is narrated by none other than James Earl Jones.

Earth includes bonus features that offer viewers an in-depth look at the making of the film and an opportunity to learn more about our planet and its myriad fascinating inhabitants.

So how do you enter to win one of the 3 copies being given away? Simple – leave a comment on this post, with a valid email address so I can contact you, telling me why seeing this film would be important to you and your family. That’s all! Out of all valid entries, 3 will be picked at random to win a copy of the DVD. Contest ends Sept 1, 2009 at 7am MST and is open to US residents only. Good luck!

  1. The exposure to beautiful places and delicate ecosystems will be a reminder about just how important it is to be mindful of the footprint I leave on this earth. Plus my Great Dane loves watching nature programming!

  2. I would love to win a copy of the Disney Earth DVD. We mainly watch nature programming at our house with our 5 year old son and this particular DVD would be something we could watch over and over. It’s important for us, living in the city, that our son hrow up having respect for nature and realizing how all life is connected. I feel this DVD could help do the job. Thanks

  3. I love these movies, and so does my family. It allows to you get in touch with nature, even in front of a television set. These are places that most of us will never get to see in our lifetime, but they are sights that truly shouldn’t be missed!

  4. What a great film to have on a rainy day!
My 3 yr old and I would love to see the film and then we can pretend to be the creatures out in the wild!
    Thank you

  5. It’s never to early to start teaching our children to save, conserve, love and respect our planet. The Disney movie would be an ideal way for children and adults to get this message. Besides, who doesn’t love Disney!?

    Thank you.

  6. This movie will allow us to have a clearer picture of what lives/habitats we affect when we do stuff that’s not environmentally responsible

  7. I can’t believe I haven’t seen this one yet! Would be great to share with my four year old and talk to him about the beauty of the earth and the importance of preserving that beauty.

  8. I have not heard of this one! My 4 yr old and 2 yr old boys loved watching pieces of Planet Earth (which we borrowed from grandma) and they love animals, so this would be perfect for them! I try to teach them all about composting and saving energy/water. I would love to be able to show them why I teach them all of these things-on their level. What a great give away!

  9. I don’t have a huge library of ecological/conservation DVDs, but I’m attempting to rectify that. This DVD would have a place of honour among the modest collection of videos I already own. Thanks so much for offering it to three lucky winners…good luck, one and all!

  10. My small son and my grandkids would enjoy this. With techno-everything nowadays, this DVD will show the kiddos what the world is really about. Thank you for the opportunity!

  11. We saw this in the theater, it was well worth the money and it both gave a positive feeling about the world around me and a sad one that it is going away so quickly.
I have two movies in my library, I love to have this as my third.

  12. My daughter would enjoy this immensely, when else to instill a love of nature than when she’s still a toddler? Good for a rainy day <3
    Good luck!

  13. Cool, I’m interested. Do you have Blu-Ray or just regular DVD?

I’m it in my family, but I’d drag my friends kids over to see it on my big screen so they can see the world! They don’t see enough educational films to appreciate the world!

Can’t wait to see it. I saw something for “Oceans” next year just the other day and it made me remember than I never got to see Earth!

  14. Gee-
I was ready to be all cynical that Disney had not contributed much to saving our planet. But then the video of EARTH was so overwhelming in its beauty, capturing animals in their habitats in the most thrilling images I have seen in a long time — geez, I was emotionally spellbound. Having travelled much of the world — I know these are images that are quite rare to see. I am appreciative of EARTH as a compelling vision to awaken people’s environmental sensitivities. Why can’t this film be as important as “An Inconvenient Truth”? It can and should be.

  15. My family hasn’t seen the movie yet. I wanted to see it in theater with my family, however, we are unable to go to the theaters at this time due to baby. I would love to see it at home πŸ™‚ My five year old loves animals and I love nature. I have been trying to convince my family of the severity of the state our planet is in right now but it’s hard to see when it seems everything is hockey dockey in our little suburb.

  16. I haven’t seen this film yet and would love to watch it with my family. We watch lots of Discovery Channel and anything nature-related. I truly believe education is the key to awareness and change… these great documentaries are a super place to start!

  17. Oooh I’ve really been wanting to see this! I love animals and nature as do my children, this would be a great teaching tool!

  19. I have been working with the Girl Scouts at my local mosque for about 3 years now. Each year we try to engage the girls (even the little Brownies!) in activities that help not only the community but also the environment. We are a new troop but we still have a little ways to go with them! We take the girls each year to Earth Day activities and teach the girls to not only respect themselves but the people, the plants, the animals, everything around us. We teach them that we are all creations of God and that we have a responsibility to uphold.

Even though the girls aren”ℒt considered my β€œfamily” they are in the sense that we treat each other like sisters (and daughters), which is, by the way, part of the Girl Scout Law.

God willing, if I won the video, I would give it to my troop and maybe we could make it a movie night/sleepover πŸ™‚
then we could add it to our library of videos so each girl can take turns taking it home to their families.
Maybe if we’re feeling real nice, we will let the boys use it too…
might have to vote on that one

    thanks for the opportunity!

  20. My daughter never attached to a toy, a blankie, or a pacifier. She does, though, like to watch a movie before bed, so winning this would be great. She’s recently developed a huge interest in animal documentaries; always asking me, “why does that bad animal eat the good animal?” Maybe this movie can help me explain that there is more to nature than “good” or “bad” and that everything is interconnected.

  21. Honestly I think Disney should be giving everyone who has responded on this site a copy. Big brands should take opportunities to interact with their customers. An offering like this would be great PR, a seeing this on your home screen will not compare to seeing it in Cinema. Home viewing should act as an appetite whetting. that aside- maybe all parents (of which I am not) should get one as its gonna be tough to get kids to stay still for that long- no matter how big the whales are. πŸ™‚

  22. I really wanted to see this movie in theaters with my 7 year old cousin, Kelsey. But she wanted to go see some other movie with cartoon characters. While I enjoyed the other movie, THIS is the one I want her to see. It is hard to tell kids why it is important to treat animals with respect and protect them and MUCH easier to show them. Plus, it looks visually stunning. πŸ™‚

  23. It’s so easy to get preoccupied with your day to day life. Watching the DVD would help remind me why saving the environment is so important.

  24. I saw this movie with my son and his comment to me was that animals deserve to live on the Earth as much as we do. I would love to have this for all of us to watch over and over, and invite friends over to watch with us, as a simple reminder that we are caretakers of the environment and everything that lives in it.

  25. My family and don’t have TV; we only watch movies. And this would be such a special treat for my 4-year-old! Plus, I’d get him to sit still while I retwist up his dreadlocks! πŸ˜‰

  26. This sounds like a wonderful movie about earth & animals, 2 of my favorite things. Hopefully, it has impact on those who are so destructive to both.

  27. I would love to win this movie!I saw the previews and looks like a great one to share with my kids. My daughter especially loves animals~ πŸ™‚ THanks!

  28. I truly appreciated The Blue Planet and Planet Earth, and seeing this would be an excellent treat, perhaps to experience a different interpretation of Earth.

  29. I would love a copy of the DVD because I love our planet and would like to see more than I have so far. I would invite friends over to watch it as a “family”.

  30. Haven’t had TV for years, and I’m very selective about what I choose to spend time watching.
Having this DVD would be fabulous, not only would I share it with my students, but it would give me moments of respite during long hours in the studio when I am yearning to be OUT IN THE WILDS.
ps. Not to mention that James EArl Jones is just SO SEXY!

  31. It is important for children as well as adults to be educated and become familiar with the organisms that share the planet with us. We need to develop a relationship with our surroundings as a step toward renewing a emotional reality of our direct and indirect impact on the ecosystem as a whole.

  32. I have looked forward to seeing this for sometime but still have not managed to track down a copy. Looks incredibly promising. I wonder if the familiar “Disney” name would make it palatable for people who would otherwise reject such a film.
