It’s time for another great giveaway! This time, it’s the opportunity to win one of three 17 oz bamboo and glass refillable bottles kindly offered up by the Bamboo Bottle Company for readers of The Good Human. These bottles retail for $25 and are made from renewable and sustainably-harvested bamboo, dishwasher-safe, 60 percent recycled glass, and a BPA-free cap — what’s there not to love? The cool thing about the way they harvest the bamboo is that it is hand selected and cut, which allows “maturing and flowering strands to remain flourishing and minimizes the impact on ground soil since no heavy machinery is used. Once cut, the bamboo will continue to grow just like mowing your lawn.”

“We wanted to make clean, great looking bottles you could drink hot or cold beverages from,” says Carland. “Clean to us meant the liquid had to taste great when drinking and the product had to respect the environment as much as possible. Bamboo and glass allow us to accomplish that goal. We hope to minimize our impact on the environment and increase awareness.”

So how do you go about entering to win one of the three Bamboo Bottles they have provided? It’s pretty simple, really, here are the rules:

– The giveaway starts now and will be open until Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 7am MST. No entries will be accepted after that.
– To enter, please leave a comment (with a valid email address, so I can contact you) here on this post as to why you would like to win the kit. Emailed entries will not be counted — entry by comment on this post only.
– Only one entry per person. Period. Please don’t try to use different email addresses, etc, as the IP numbers will be checked.
– Entries must be from residents from the U.S.
– Three winners of the bottles will be chosen at random from all eligible entries received and notified via email.

The Bamboo Bottle Company is based in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and can be found online at www.Bamboobottleco.com, Twitter, and on their Facebook page. A big thanks to the team at Bamboo Bottle Company for hosting this giveaway, and good luck — I am sure the winners will love their new bottles!

  1. 1. Because I never win anything.
    2. Because I’ve been looking around for a replacement form my nalgene water bottle and bamboo is so much cooler than stainless steel.
    3. Because this company is apparently less than an hour away from me!

    🙂

  2. 1.Because I work at a Renewable Energy Association and can promote the tech

2.Because I want to be greener than everyone else! Muah ha ha!

3.And because it will look perfect next to by bamboo laptop =]

  3. I tried the aluminum bottles but found them to be difficult to screw the lids open and closed. And the bottle itself became too cold to grip when I added iced water. Would love to try out a bamboo bottle to see if those two problems are alleviated with its design.

  4. We’ve made the switch from steel bottles to glass bottles and LOVE THEM. They’re a little pricey though… We are a family of 5 and we have 3. Need two more! (I would selfishly snag this one for myself, though. It’s snazzy.)

  5. Alabamboo was established in 2010, to establish relationships + partnerships within the state of Alabama to bring a viable industry and resources into an economically depressed area known as the Black Belt Region. Three distinct but related projects are currently under development: Alabamboo Bike Tour 2011, Black Belt Bamboost, and a one acre test planting of Moso bamboo at The University of Alabama.

We at Black Belt Bamboost are the creative venture and are currently developing a public bamboo garden to provide citizens and other organizations with an opportunity to explore the history, future, and creative uses of bamboo.

For more information about our project, go to blackbeltbamboost.org

If we win, we will use the bottle in our educational + promotional efforts.

  6. As a college student living Eco Friendly is tough. Money is always tight but I believe it’s worth it to live a more environmentally friendly. Winning this would be great! Like others I have tried aluminium bottles, and I even tried the re-usable to go cups. Each time I’ve been disappointed. The aluminium bottles get too cold with iced drinks and if you confidently forget them in your car between classes they expand and distort. The plastic re-usable to go cups are well plastic, and not as eco friendly as I’d like. They also have a tendency to crack rather easily which means you have to buy more and that defies the point of using “less” plastic overall.
Thanks for the chance to win! Love this blog 🙂

  7. Because I’m an older lady who is constantly working in the yard and garden and need to keep my water bottle handy at all times so I won’t get heatstroke. Do you have any idea how hot it’s been in Indiana lately? I could fry an egg (wait, let me run down to the chicken pen) on my Blazer hood! I need one of these in the worst way!!!

  8. I’m on a mission of finding the right and perfect water bottle, preferably something that is BPA free. I like the idea of this bottle being made from renewable products.

  9. The bottles are aesthetically pleasing, unlike the metal and plastic versions I see so many of. They seem like a good way to expand my water carrying capacity when going on outdoor adventures with grandchildren.

  10. 1) I’ve been a devoted environmental activist since Earth Day One.
    2) I’m an active leader in the community to promote a Green lifestyle and to reduce, reuse and recycle.
    3) Although I’m rather disabled, I do more than my share to be a conscious Green individual.
    4) I’ve spent 40 years, 21 actively, producing clean drinking water for folk from Juneau, Alaska to Ocean City, New Jersey.
    5) I don’t recall ever winning a prize at all!

  11. I drink a lot of hot tea, which is impossible to carry around in my uninsulated metal water bottle. I could use one of these!

  12. Would love to win this because I have been shopping around for safe, eco-friendly and great looking bottles for my children and me.

  13. I would like to win That water bottle because the other eco-friendly bottles I have are rather hard to clean thoroughly and its a pretty bottle! I hope I win and thank you for the opportunity

  14. I try to carry my reusable bottle with me as often as I can and I will be more apt to carry one of these beautiful bottles. I also love bamboo anything – furniture, accessories, you name it. Makes me feel closer to the earth. Thanks!

  15. First of all it looks like a great reusable container. Stylish while still being smart.

Second of all, I need bottles like this that the kids and I can take with us to the park, playground, on walks, hikes, etc. We always try to bring reusable containers with us and could use another good one! 🙂

  16. I would love to have one of these bottles, because I love bamboo. It is beautiful, and it looks and feels good. I also play various bamboo flutes, so I know that it sounds good, too.

  17. 1) I love the fact that it’s bamboo and eco-friendly.

    2) I dislike my metal water bottle so much.

    3) I could write about this on the many blogs I visit and promote the product.

  18. We only have one home. I would like to show my support and appreciation of Earth, for Earth and for all those who live upon this planet.

  19. A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing, the lawn mower is broken, and I’m sitting on the porch drinking water from an eco friendly bottle, with my dogs at my feet. Doesn’t get any better than that.

  20. I would love a glass water bottle to keep up with my active toddler. Plastic is just not cool.

And the IP address thing – don’t neglect that some of us can’t afford, or can choose not to have, more than one computer for the entire household.

    Thanks for this opportunity!

  21. I would love a glass drinking bottle because I am so afraid of what all of this plastic usage is doing to us! I try to go glass whenever I can!

  22. 1. I just lost my one and only (favorite) water bottle in the whole wide world!

    2. I absolutely love the design of this beautiful. It is very much my style (fun, cool, edgy, clean, different & -of course- eco-friendly)

    3. I come from a country where waste is not common. We use the absolute necessary (because we don’t have much), we only consume cold water (because first, it’s too hot and second, we can’t afford hot water). Bottled water is the exception (when the place you are at has things you can see or a different color).
Most importantly, I am passionate about issues of sustainability back home in Africa. Just as we don’t waste much, we unfortunately pollute a lot, especially through littering. I still remember clearly the first time I decided I was going to fight pollution. I was in Ghana (not my home country but close) and by time, I had already decided to go against the popular habit of trashing food packaging and plastic bags on the street. I would nag my parents, siblings and friends when they did. In Ghana, I went to the market and felt like I was walking on what seemed to me like a carpet of litter. I was completely moved by that and decided to learn more about the 3Rs (Reduce-Reuse-Recycle) since then.
I have adopted the water bottle since the first time I acquired one and I would love to replace mine and continue to contribute to a trash-free environment. I would also promote this product to my family and friends as well as on my social networks (people who know me all know about my sustainability efforts) if I was to like this product (only if I was to like it, I’m all about honesty). I can tell by the look that I would like it! (PS: I am not a proponent of judging a book by its covert).

    Merci! 🙂

  23. I would love this bottle because I am constantly telling my friends about sustainability and all the great products that are both eco-friendly and aesthetically pleasing! I would show it off to all my friends and some of them would likely purchase one, too! Spreading the good word! 🙂

  24. Wow, I’d love to win this because of the statement that the contents taste great out of it! I use a lot of metal bottles and I think it changes the flavor of the water or whatever you put inside.

  25. I would love to win, as my kiddos and I are constantly using water bottles and we can always use extras!! These bamboo bottles are super nice – would love to win, thanks for the chance!

  26. OH!!!!! Glass…back to those wonderful old thermoses only with a beautiful bamboo exterior. Nothing beats the taste of a cool fresh beverage in GLASS…Glad to see an old idea revamped into a great new product…

  27. I would love to have one of these bottles, because it’s ecofriendly. It is beautiful, and it looks and feels great.

  28. I’m not hip on the stainless steel because they sweat everywhere and the water gets hot too fast in the summer. I’d love to try one of these.

  29. I love the look of these bottles and that they’re made from bamboo! It’s so different from anything else out there.

I also love that they’re dishwasher-safe! That’s a HUGE plus, because I hate to hand wash stuff!

  30. I should win this bottle because I work in a school with an environmental science focus, but my office mate buys water bottled in plastic. If I won I would give it to her.

Thanks for all the good work you do!

  31. I am currently unemployed and making the green movement with my family and would LOVE one of these as funds are low and I can’t buy one. Also, I NEVER win anything.

  32. Because my work only provides compostable cups made from corn, which aren’t environmentally friendly because they need so much water and land to grow, and may release methane when they biodegrade. Plus, the metal bottles make an annoying clanging sound whenever you open or close them.

  33. Hi! I’d love to win one of these bottles! I love bamboo designs and the eco-friendliness that comes along with the stylishness of so many bamboo products! <3

  34. Because usually, the kids or the hubby get all the cool stuff and it would be so spiffy to have something cool (and enviro-freindly) for me. =)

  35. The design is beautiful, and I love that it’s protected glass – I always find the taste of the water from metal bottles to taste weird.
