It may not be exactly a piece of green news, but it’s most definitely good news. This week, The Supreme Court ruled that the Defense of Marriage Act is unconstitutional, freeing states to acknowledge that marriages between same-sex couples are legal. Congratulations to everyone involved.

You can have your own opinion about the pros and cons of organic foods, but you cannot make up your own facts. Food Safety News takes a “writer” to task regarding a book containing misleading “facts” about organic foods.

Are you a fan of soy and soy products? Turns out that soy is more than likely environmentally more destructive than you can imagine. Between radical deforestation and poor working conditions in India and China, most soy production isn’t good for planet Earth.

According to a new Duke University-led study, residents living near shale gas wells (think: fracking) appear to be a higher risk of drinking water contaminated from released gases. And yet, fracking is going to be part of Obama’s new “Climate Action Plan” that environmentalists are hyperventilating with joy over. I don’t get it.

And hats off to Chipotle for becoming the first restaurant chain to start labeling all GMO ingredients. It’s a great start, for sure, but 12 of the 24 ingredients on their menu are now labeled with a red “G” for GMO. Next step? Get rid of ’em.

Lastly, this one’s for you, Maryland. According to new research, the coast of Maryland could see sea levels rise up to 2 feet by 2050. This could spell disaster for anyone living along the Maryland’s 3,100 miles of tidal shoreline.
