Your Amazing Heart and How It Can Help Us All

What is your heart? And how could it change the World?

The simple answer of course, is that it is an essential organ required to pump blood around your body. But is it more than that?

Back as far as 1983 scientists were beginning to realise that the heart was more than the pump that kept our blood flowing. They discovered that it was actually part of the hormonal system, actively releasing hormones to combat stress.

So, have you ever considered that your heart has intelligence? I am going to list some scientifically proven facts about our hearts from The HeartMath Institute.

  • Your heart emits an electromagnetic that changes with our emotions
  • This field can be measured several feet away from your body
  • Positive emotions lead to harmonious heart rhythms
  • Your heart has it’s own system of neurone, with long and short term memory
  • Your heart is the first organ to form in utero – before the brain
  • Your heart sends more information to the brain than vice versa

People have long believed that the heart is home to our emotions. We attribute feelings such as love and compassion to our heart, as it feels physically like these things pour from our chest….and we have been right! Our heart is the strongest source of electrical energy in our body. It has been measured at 40-60 times stronger than our brain!

We know that stress has a negative impact on our nervous system….and our heart rate is the clearest indicator of emotional states. The rates and rhythms become erratic when we are under pressure. This disorder affects the nervous system and the whole body. When we are able to change our vibe to a positive one, we can work towards a coherent state. With the heart and brain working together we are able to access a higher thinking capacity. The heart therefore influences intelligence and awareness.

This fascinating video below demonstrates how this can be useful on not only a personal level, but also on a social and even Global level.

We saw there that on a personal level, our heart can influence clarity, creativity and emotional balance. Astonishingly, the electromagnetic current that is emitted from our hearts connects us to one another. This unseen energy can create harmony in our social connections when we consciously live from the heart. Two studies that have explored this hypothesis include this which found that the hearts of two individuals within a romantic relationship could synchronise; and this which found that the hearts of singers in a choir also displayed similar heart rate variability. Amazing!

Even more mind-blowing is the concept that our individual waves of energy can pool into a vast collective field. Our thoughts, emotions and intentions could be pouring out of our hearts in electromagnetic waves that contribute to the Earth’s magnetic field.

Doc Chidre, Founder of The HeartMath Institute says: As more of humanity practices heart based living it will qualify the ‘rite of passage’ into the next level of consciousness. Using our heart’s intuitive guidance will become common sense – based on practical intelligence.

The Global Coherence Initiative is a science-based, co-creative project to unite people in heart-focused care and intention, to facilitate the shift in global consciousness from instability and discord to balance, cooperation and enduring peace. It is funded by the Institute of HeartMath. Using the basis that humans are connected by this unseen electrical energy to one another and all things, they hope to encourage individuals to contribute to the Global energy by living from their heart, reducing the flow of negativity into the collective field.

It has been seen that changes in the Earth’s magnetic field can be measured at times of National disasters, and the GCI has is now monitoring this using ‘advanced sensing technology’. 14 sensors are located across the globe with the intention of collating data exploring the impact of human emotion of the planet.

With more and more people beginning to wake up to the reality of our world it is comforting to think that we could make a difference individually, using the power of our hearts. Shifting human consciousness, using individual and group prayer and meditation, could enable us to heal ourselves and even the planet.

Jack Canfield, Co-Creator of the Chicken Soup for the Soul® Series, Co-author of The Success Principles™, and founder of the Transformational Leadership Council thinks that “The Global Coherence Initiative is perhaps the greatest experiment in the history of the world”.

So what if each individual took responsibility for their own energy? If we were able to send out positive intentions, thoughts and emotions as much as possible we would undoubtably change our own lives for the better, with our biological functions working in harmony. We could have a positive impact on those closest to us, by affecting their electromagnetic fields for the better. We could even help to bring about a harmonious future for the planet. A sustainable future could be achieved with everyone working on the same page. Gagging laws and profit margins are currently drowning out our global voice, but the electric power of our hearts is impossible to silence.

Do you believe we have the power to change the world?

  1. Most excellent article and so true. This thought/knowing is becoming more main stream. Finally. IF human beings knew how powerful they are, they’d watch their thoughts/actions more carefully. I refer to the advanced human beings. We still have a long way to go in terms of evolving as a species but we’re getting there. This are crumbling and things are being created as well. Turn off the TV and keep the focus on “the great work” we are doing here on this planet. My 2 cents.
