The following is a paid review of a company I think you all will enjoy reading about called Starry Night Lights. Remember, I only accept these reviews if I believe it is something you all might like to know about, and I will always be honest in my opinion. Of course, I turn down things that have no business being here anyway, so if you see a review, it’s because it is something I believe in!
I know I wish some people around here would do something about light pollution…sometimes it feels as though I live near an airport there is so much light pollution in our neighborhood. The folks over at Starry Night Lights have been kind enough to ask me to review their product and to let you all know what I think. I guess they think my readers would like to hear about this kind of stuff, they are right! This company sells light fixtures that don’t “pollute” the environment; meaning, the lights point down or is diffused enough so it does not light up the entire night sky. They seem to have a pretty large collection of both indoor and outdoor lights that do this; the only thing I wished they had was a bigger section on lights that can use CFL technology. There was a little mention in there, but it seemed to only be for a particular brand that they carry. But they did have a lot of great information there on what causes light pollution and how much money is spent per year lighting up the sky….an appalling $5 to $10 billion per year!
When I went on vacation last summer, we rented a house in a community that only had downward lighting…no one there was allowed to light up the night sky. So, when darkness fell, it was actually dark. We could see all sorts of stars and the view of the moon was amazing. That’s why I think this company, Starry Night Lights, is definitely on to something here. If they can transition most people to using non-polluting light sources, I think the world would be a better place. Again, my only complaint would be a lack of coverage on saving the environment from ALL pollution (using only CFL’s), not just light pollution. But since they do have some information on there about this, I have to give them credit for heading in the right direction. If you are thinking of changing out the lights in your house, you might want to take a look at what they have to offer…you might find something you really like!
