“Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose.” ~ Yoda
Everything material can be replaced and in the end, we can’t take anything with us when we die. If we live our lives fearing the things that we may end up losing, we miss out on living life to the fullest. We can’t spend our days worrying about the “what ifs” in life. You could lose your job in a flash, you could be in a car crash tomorrow.
But what is the use in worrying about the things we may lose? What is the use in trying to gain control over things we simply can’t control? Learn to let go.
“Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.” ~ Yoda
How true is it that hate leads to suffering? We need to become more forgiving of ourselves and others around us. Someone once said that “forgiveness is setting a prisoner free, and finding out that prisoner was you”. Hate is a consuming emotion that causes suffering and bitterness. Become generous in your forgiveness of others.
“Always pass on what you have learned.” ~ Yoda
If you pass on what you learn, you help build others up. If we selfishly hold on to what we learn, others would not benefit from it. The potential for others to grow and learn is endless. You can help others to not make the same mistakes that you have and in turn, not experience the same pain that you have experienced. You can use your skills to build others. Furthermore, whatever we pass on will forever be in existence.
“You will know (the good from the bad) when you are calm, at peace. Passive. A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defence, never for attack.” ~ Yoda
Somehow, we inherently know good from bad. We have morals and values built into us. When you are on the right path, you feel calm and at peace. Learn to recognise how you respond to different choices. Are you feeling defensive and edgy about it? You’re probably making the wrong choice then.
“If you end your training now — if you choose the quick and easy path as Vader did — you will become an agent of evil.” ~ Yoda
There are no shortcuts in life. While choosing a shortcut won’t necessarily make you “an agent of evil” it will cheat you of developing skills and strip you of your trustworthiness. If you want to become successful and get the job done properly, you’ve got to put in the time and effort that it takes. You’ve got to start at the bottom and work your way up to the top. Those around you, who look up to you, will admire you forever for it.
