Renewable sources such as solar and wind could supply up to 80 percent of the world’s energy needs by 2050 and play a significant role in fighting global warming, a top climate panel concluded Monday.

It may not be quite the renewable energy powerhouse that Germany and China are, but California will be well on its way once it speeds up installations of smaller, urban projects, Gov. Jerry Brown said Monday.

I am bloodied and in pain as I write today. Not because of billy goat attack (that will be detailed in an upcoming post -Natalie the nanny goat is dating as we speak). Not because of any psychological bruise recent foreign policy decisions have inflicted upon me. But rather because everything is sharp in this ecosystem at this time of year.

While the EPA limits arsenic in our drinking water to 10 parts per billion, recent tests have found the amount of arsenic in apple juice (Mott’s Apple Juice, in particular) to be 55 parts per billion 5.5 times more than what the EPA will let us drink.

I have been living off the grid for the past three years, however, my 13 year old daughter and I do not live in a rural or isolated setting, instead, we live in the middle of suburbia. It has been interesting to note the various reactions that people have when they discover we are powerless.
