The gigantic biotech corporation Monsanto is threatening to destroy the agricultural biodiversity which has served mankind for thousands of years. The endless list of genetically modified seeds sold and controlled by Monsanto are putting at enormous risk age-old agricultural patterns under the presumptuous slogan of aiming at solving the huge problem of hunger in the world.

Ken Livingstone, seeking re-election as Mayor of London, has told Thom Yorke of Radiohead that he wants to take the entire city off-grid. As the world’s most popular, and expensive, city, how London treats the green agenda will set a template for other world capitals, not to mention the rest of the country. Imagine that, an off-grid London!

Bald eagles, wolves, snails, butterflies and many other species native to the US have long been at risk. Many have made it on to the country’s endangered species list, but not under the Bush administration over the last two years. Conservation groups claim that Bush appointees have been deliberately making it harder to designate animals and plants as endangered, and have launched a series of lawsuits
