Welcome 2008! Here are a few great stories/articles that caught my eye lately. Hope you all had a fantastic New Year Celebration!

Looks like I am not the only one peeved about this stupid bill. “President Bush just signed into law a new energy bill. It will raise the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standard for automobiles to 35 miles per gallon by 2020. Which means in 12 years we get to have fuel efficiency standards that are almost as good as the ones currently in place in China. And at least 10 mpg worse than those of Europe or Japan. And that will take 12 years! What a joke.”

California sued the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Wednesday for denying its first-in-the-nation greenhouse gas limits on cars, trucks and SUVs, challenging the Bush administration’s conclusion that states have no business setting emission standards. Yes!

Pregnant women are exposed to twice the amount of radiation from medical scans from a decade ago.

Curious about the 2007 Farm Bill? If you aren’t, you aren’t paying attention. This thing is a nightmare. Instead of our money being spent on important things, it is being spent on the continuation of subsidizing gigantic corporate farms.

Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. Great blog!

If the economics don’t work, recycling efforts won’t either.
As our little contribution to make this economics of recycling more appealing, we blog about people and companies that make money selling recycled or reused items, provide green services or help us reduce our dependency on non renewable resources.
