Not much to say other than only 6 more days till our train trip…I am so looking forward to it! On to the news…

The National Labor Committee, which tracks working conditions in developing countries worldwide, released a report Wednesday titled “A Wal-Mart Christmas Brought to You from a Sweatshop in China.” Wal-Mart is glorifying the virtue of buying cheap goods in its stores, claiming this is the real holiday spirit,” said Charles Kernaghan, director of the National Labor Committee at a press conference outside Rockefeller Center, near the famous Christmas tree. “But especially at this time of year, no American would knowingly purchase a product in Wal-Mart if they knew that bargain was based on the exploitation of children and teenagers forced to work grueling hours, seven days a week, who are stripped of their rights and paid pennies an hour,” Kernaghan said.

California’s top insurance regulator has accused Blue Shield, one of the state’s largest health plans, of 1,262 violations of claims-handling laws and regulations that resulted in more than 200 people losing their medical coverage. Blue Cross sucks. Big time. More on that in the New Year.

CVS Pharmacy Inc. was fined $226,598 after inspectors found 43 of its stores in the U.S. Northeast changed employee timecards and violated child labor laws. I love when companies get busted like this. I don’t love when I find out a pharmacy I go to sometimes violates child labor laws. This stinks.

And finally, on a happier note, a great article about making gift boxes from cereal boxes! Take advantage of your brightly colored recyclables, and they’ll be no need for gift wrap.

Have a great weekend everyone!
