It doesn’t really matter what time of year it is, but there often comes a time when you look around your home and feel overwhelmed by the amount of little jobs that have suddenly accumulated from nowhere. You realise that it is time to spring clean!
We have it easier nowadays, as spring cleaning used to be a necessity after a long cold winter using candles and kerosene that would cover everything with a layer of grime and wax. Today we don’t have those same problems, but there is still plenty to clean, and it is useful to have a decent plan of action to make it as easy as possible to achieve.
Deep cleaning once a year has huge benefits, making your home a happier space is one thing, but it will also run more efficiently and be healthier to boot. Removing allergens, such as dust and dust mites, as well as odours and dirt all make your home a more pleasant environment for your lungs!
Taking care of your property also prolongs it’s life. You have made an investment in your home and furniture and therefore taking the time to maintain it makes sense. Plus it shows a real sense of pride, which will spill over to other areas of your life. When your home is in order, it frees you up to focus on other goals.
The Good Human has complied the ultimate spring cleaning checklist here for you. Starting with foundation steps, motivation and then a room by room guide. Obviously your own home may differ slightly in terms of the rooms and fittings, so tailor this to your needs. If you notice anything that we have missed please be sure to comment below!
The first step can only be to clear out the clutter! This is the critical step and will make everything else easier. The trick is to deal with a whole category of something at a time so that you can really take stock of what you have and make informed decisions about what you can let go of. And trust us, you can let go of far more than you think.
