“Do it badly; do it slowly; do it fearfully; do it any way you have to, but do it.” ~ Steve Chandler, Reinventing Yourself: How to Become the Person You’ve Always Wanted to Be
Do you ever find yourself waking consistently, every morning with a sinking feeling of dread? Or maybe you have come to the realisation that you are pretty unhappy with the direction that your life seems to be taking. Or perhaps you simply feel uncomfortable in your own skin. You may even look back at the last few months and wonder how you ever reached this point in your life.
There is one thing for sure, if these thoughts are sounding familiar to you, it is time to make a change.
It is possible to reinvent yourself at any point, no matter how ‘stuck in a rut’ you might feel. You have the power to take stock of your current situation and make a U-turn if you need to. The life of your dreams can be yours, you just have to reach out and grab it.
The Good Human has put together this fool-proof guide to reinvention. The great news is that these steps are seriously easy to do, the bad news is that they are just as easy to not do. So the answer is in your hands, as ever.
The first step has to be to climb out of the box that you have found yourself in. Just remember, there is absolutely no room for blame here. It doesn’t matter why you are at this point, it doesn’t matter who has led you into the box. It only matters that you climb out before your light goes out!
So what do we mean by getting out of the box? That you simply need to take good, objective look at yourself and the limitations that are imposing you.
How would you define ‘you‘? Are you proud of the person you are? Do you respect yourself – and do others respect you? Do you value what you do? How does your job title make you feel?
