Still Deny That Climate Change Is Real? This Is Who Agrees With You.

The Global Climate Coalition (GCC) was an industry group in the United States battling reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and pollution. Started in 1989, some of the original members included Amoco, American Petroleum Institute, Chevron, Exxon, Shell Oil, and Texaco, and they assembled together in order to fight any movement on climate change policies in the US. They opposed the Kyoto Protocol that would have lowered greenhouse gas emissions and launched an advertising campaign against any agreement aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions internationally. These companies didn’t care about the health of the planet or the people inhabiting it – they only cared about money, money, and more money. They lied about climate change, it’s effects on all of us, and paid millions (billions, maybe?) to lobbyists to fight any pro-environment policy.

While the group “officially” disbanded in 2002, most of these companies are still active climate-change deniers in one capacity or another. Want to know which companies were members of this group fighting any efforts to clean up our environment? Take a look, from SourceWatch:

Notice anything about these companies that were involved? They all are involved, directly or indirectly, in the fossil fuels industry. And any attempts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions would have had an affect on their finances and profits. The earth gets raped, the water gets polluted, more people get cancer, and the only inhabitable planet we know of gets slowly destroyed in the pursuit of a dollar.

But hey, what’s more important than money?

  1. Recent research by Henrik Svensmark and his group at the Danish National
Space Center points to the real cause of the recent warming trend. In a
series of experiments on the formation of clouds, these scientists have
shown that fluctuations in the Sun’s output cause the observed changes in the
    Earth’s temperature.

In the past, scientists believed the fluctuations in the Sun’s output were
too small to cause the observed amount of temperature change, hence the need
to look for other causes like carbon dioxide. However, these new
experiments show that fluctuations in the Sun’s output are in fact large
enough, so there is no longer a need to resort to carbon dioxide as the
cause of the recent warming trend.

The discovery of the real cause of the recent increase in the Earth’s
temperature is indeed a convenient truth. It means humans are not to blame
for the increase. It also means there is absolutely nothing we can, much
less do, to correct the situation.

    1. Yes, we should most certainly believe studies by a small handful of deniers over studies by the majority or scientists, orgs, NASA, etc.. That certainly makes sense.
