One week from today is World Water Day, and although you might not have known about it before this morning, now you might be asking yourself, “What is World Water Day and how can I be involved?”. Lucky you, I have the answer.
‘Coping with Water Scarcity’ is the theme for World Water Day 2007, which is celebrated each year on 22 March. This year’s theme highlights the increasing significance of water scarcity worldwide and the need for increased integration and cooperation to ensure sustainable, efficient and equitable management of scarce water resources, both at international and local levels.
This is a UN-sponsored event that takes place every year that deals with water-related issues worldwide. There are individual events that take place around the globe on that day, and you can find one near you by visiting Unwater.org.
There are all sorts of posters and flyers for you to print out, there are e-cards you can send out to spread the word, and there are technical papers if you are a numbers kind of person. All in all, there is a lot of info here….it takes a while to look through it all. But it is worth it, as it is always good to remind yourself just how good you have it compared to some in this world. Imagine being without clean water…
