The people over at Yes To Carrots were kind enough to send along some samples of their organic, plant-based, paraben-free, not-tested-on-animals bodycare products for us to test, and we were really happy they did! I passed along the “Eye Can C Clearly Now” eye cream and the “Pampering Hair Mud Conditioner” to my wife to test out (as I have about .01 inches of hair on my head), but I did try out the “Can U See Me” face wash and their line of lip balm. Everything was fantastic, and we are still using all of the products. Most of the products use dead sea mud and minerals, beta-carotene, and organic fruit and vegetable extracts to make safe and effective cleaners. Their lip balm (melon is the best, IMO), which I now carry around in my pocket 24-7, is the only certified organic stuff sold in drugstores and is supposed to be only $3.69. At least you can avoid petroleum-based lip balms now!

As for some of the ingredients (the most important part, if you ask me):

The conditioner has the following: Water (Aqua), Dead Sea Water (Maris Aqua), Silt (Maris Limus), Magnesium Chloride, Chamomila Recutita (Chamomile) Extract, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Calendula Officinalis Oil, Daucus Carota (Carrot) Seed Oil, Daucus Carota (Carrot) Juice, Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Juice, Ipomoera Batatas (Sweet Potato) Extract, Cucumis Melo (Melon) Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Honey (Mel) Extract, Fragrance (Parfum), Dimethicone, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat Germ) Oil, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Cetrimonium Chloride, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Peel Extract.

The face cleaner and makeup remover has the following: Water (Aqua), Daucus Carota (Carrot) Juice, Rosmarinus (Rosemary) Extract, Algae Extracts (Dunaliella, Spirulina, Rhodella), Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Extract, Propylene Glycol, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil, Chamomila Recutita (Chamomile) Oil, Calendula Officinalis Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado Oil), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Silt (Maris Limus), Magnesium Chloride, Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Juice, Ipomoera Batatas (Sweet Potato) Extract, Cucumis Melo (Melon) Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Honey (Mel) Extract, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearic Acid, Triethanolamine, Fragrance (Parfum), Rosmarinus Offcinalis (Rosemary) Extract, Carbomer, Niacin, Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Gel, Propolis Extract, Vitamin E (Tocopherol Acetate), Imidazolidinyl Urea, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Peel Extract.

And the melon lip balm has the following: Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil*, Cera Alba (Beeswax)*, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Flavor, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)*,Tocopherol, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Extract*, Cucumis Melo Cantalupensis (Melon) Seed Extract*, Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Seed Extract*, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract*, Limonene*, Linalool*, Citral*. *Organic

In addition to making these organic products, Yes To Carrots provides communities with donations to help with seeds, plants, equipment, irrigation support and technical know-how with their “Seed Fund“. It is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, and they are on a mission to make a difference in people’s lives by providing under-served communities with the resources to develop and sustain an organic food source and access to healthy nutrition. If you want to learn more about their stuff, check out the Yes To Carrots website. I love when products are made with natural ingredients and are priced the same as the crappy stuff sold in stores. My only problem, of course, is that everything comes in plastic, especially in light of my plastic recycling problem. Look for an upcoming post soon about my efforts to reduce our plastic use to nearly nothing, and thanks to Yes To Carrots for sending some samples our way!

  1. I am such a fan of these products. I kind of didn’t want to be, because I was all about my bare bones olive oil and baking soda skin care, but sometimes it is REALLY nice to be pampered a little. And I totally love how accessible the products are.

  2. Thanks for the information! I hate that so many ‘green’ products are so expensive. I’m glad your wife likes this shampoo and conditioner – I’ll try it out and see how it goes for me.

  3. These products are divine and could beat the pants off any spa treatments around and guilt free. What’s not to love?! Here’s a tip for those of us who want to save gas to the store and $$ to boot: leave it to Amazon (I an totally NOT associated with them) to come through again! Until Jan 31, 2009 you get extra $20 off on top of the discounted double pack price and free shipping. WOhoo!!!! “Save an extra $20 instantly when you spend $69 or more on any combination of eligible green household or personal care products offered by Amazon.com. Enter code JAN09GRN at checkout. Here’s how (restrictions apply). Offer valid through January 31, 2009.”

  4. These are the greatest products I’ve ever used and they are affordable. I started buying the facial day cream and now I use every product in the Yes To Carrot family. Some of my favorite are the day cream, body butter, lip butter, shower gel and makeup remover. I say YES to all their products 🙂
